Is this lens as bad as everybody is saying, no, but this lens is nothing special, it’s basically just a lens, that is the best way to describe this lens?
I was expecting much worse lens when I bought it (very cheap) I have read so bad reviews of this lens.
So I’m gonna try to find something positive to say about this lens I don’t want to sound like everybody else.
No 1. This lens is very cheap.
No 2. This lens is lightweight and small.
No 3. Better than having no lens at all.
No 4. Good accessory when selling an old camera body.
Nikon 35-70mm is lightweight 206g vs Nikon 50mm 1.8D is 155g.
Nikon 35-70mm lens wide open on the left and stopped down on the right.
This is the bokeh effect that you get with this lens @70mm f/4.5.
I was hoping that this lens would be good for long exposure photography just like the Nikon 50mm 1.8D lens when stopped down to f/8 – f/11, but no, this lens is just okay for long exposure photography when compared to other Nikon zoom lenses like Nikon 18-105mm lens, when shooting against strong lights like on the image below you can see glow and flare around the lights, the sharpness is okay on f/8 – f/11.
The pictures that you see here have been minimized in MB for the web, so they do not look as good here, they are much sharper on my computer.
The starburst is okay for a zoom lens, the picture below is taken on 70mm @ f/8 – 95.5s.
The starburst is okay for a zoom lens, the picture below is taken on 70mm @ f/32 – 30s.
This lens does not have auto-focus with Nikon D3000 series and D5000 series.
This lens has a good sharpness @ f/11 and f/13.
